i've seen those times WITHOUT k-pro
just a CAI, header, and 2.5" piped exhaust should get you low 14's no problem

there is a guy on CRSX that ran 13.98 with I/RH/ESMM/Reflash with an 06 type-s. Also with STOCK tires and suspension. He also has the time slip on there for the non believers. The Reflash is said to lose power with a RH also. Its supposed to be used with just basic bolt on I/H/E no RH.

yeah i really dont see how a reflash would hurt with a full race header...a "street" header on the rsx doesn't do **** anyways.

What will work well:
Intakes (especially cold air intakes)
Cat-Back exhausts
Hondata Heatshield Intake manifold gaskets

What is not recommended:

Stock Airbox
Race header
Race camshafts
Forced induction

"If you have a race header you will run lean.. if you intend to run race headers we recommend you upgrade to a Hondata K-Pro."

Thank you!!! I wasnt pullin that stuff out of my ***! With the RH you will run very lean. The reflash is a great upgrade, but only if you dont plan to go any further than basic bolt ons.

This is from Hondata themselves answering a question about RH's and the Reflash

1. Any reflash, either the 02-04 or 05 has at least as much fuel as the stock ECU, so there is the same or less risk of running lean with a reflash as with the stock ECU.

2. Most 02-04 reflashes are fine with an exhaust header. Some run lean. We're being conservative with our recommendations with the 05 reflash so that there is little chance of anyone running lean.

As you can see its not the reflash that makes your car run lean, its the actual RH since the reflash adds at lease as much fuel as stock. Basically they don't recommend running a RH without KPRO to tune it, not because it will run lean with a flash.

can't all of this running lean stuff be cleared up with a VAFCII instead of dishing out all that $$$ for k-pro?

and i must've missed this, but you think you need slicks to hit low 14's??
wowzers
with slicks and a CAI/race header/exhaust/and some fuel tuning you should be in the high 13's

there's a link to a dude hittin low 14's without k-pro and on stock rims/tires....as well as a few others claiming the same

From what i've read on clubrsx, using a vafc isnt a good idea.

someone on ClubRSX with an 05 Type-S hit 14.3 with ITR header, Vision 2-1 downpipe, and Buddyclub Spec 3 exhaust only (stock tires)

generally, the combo of cai/race header/exhaust should put you at low 14s easily.

im sure you could work with a vafc to fix the leaning out, but that would defeat the purpose of using the hondata reflash. why bother using 2 or 3 piggyback ecus, when you could solve the problem altogether using k-pro. The reflash already sets maps to run within a certain area... and getting a VAFC would override those settings that you just spent 600 on. also if you try to tune your A/F ratio from the vafc, you will throw off ignition timing.

also k-pro has a lot of other features that will be more helpul later on in the road.

i mean, what you could do is drop 600 on the reflash, and then save up and upgrade to k-pro.

it isnt really that bad running a race header with the reflash, because i know of several people that run that set up. the run lean, but not dangerously lean that they would blow their engine. it is just suggested not to run this set-up over a long period of time.

I ran a 14.1 with: k20a2/6 speed, hondata kpro, injen cai, dcrh, t1r midpipe, stock muffler.

I ran a 14.3 with: k20a2/6 speed, kpro, injen cai, stock rsx type s header/cat, t1r midpipe

I want to see what I run now...I'm completely stock as far as bolt ons go...just have the k20a2 now.

If you are serious about numbers at the track don't waste your time with a reflash. Get what i quoted earlier and a good tuner.

I believe how everyone with rsx's runs low 14s and even high 13s, but i got this guy with a cai, dc header, exhaust and k-pro claiming he hit 13.3, with slipping tires and launching at 2500-3500. So this guy thinks with better tires he could do better. I find that hard to believe when alot of awd turbo cars run somewhere in that time slot. Is this guy bullshitting?, his known for being a big liar
