Mounting Intercooler in 98+ Bumper?
I'm in the process of mounting my intercooler as I finish up my turbo project. The intercooler dimensions are:
Core Size: 22"x5.5"
Overall Size: 27"x5.5"
It's about 3" Thick with 2.5" inlets.
Anyone mounted one with out completely cutting out the grille? I need to see some pics of others w/98+ Front plus a mid sized intercooler.

My car used to have a turbo on it and you don't have to cut the support you just have to bend it a little bit out of the way, but the grille was cut out.

yeah i've been on here for quite a while, just didn't post that much until here lately. As you can see, i got the two new cars listed in my sig. I'm not trying to spend a lot of money on this integra, so i'm doing pretty much all the work myself. I picked up a srt-4 intercooler from my friend tonight, and i'll be reworking the endtanks this week. I have a 94 bumper right now, but i'm looking for a + 98 bumper. If you want some help working on yours, i'd love to help. I like working on them a lot.

i bought an IC w/ top brackets on it and mounted it to the bumper bar. It is pretty much as close to the car as possible so that i didn't have to cut a lot of the grill apart. I'll try get you pics ASAP! Also, i didn't move anything....i just mounted the IC after a lot of thought and test fitting so that i could leave everything in place.....
Here they are...i braved the drizzly rain to get them...lol. If you want something more specific, let me know, but i'll be taking the bumper off in about 2 weeks to do the IC piping. Right now this is just an interFooler because i haven't had time to work on my project...

Those pics are good, what did you use to cut the bumper?
I have a choice of.
Dremel (Would take forever)
sawzall (May hack the bumper up too much)
Air Grinder
or something else that I have at home....

you don't want to know what i used................as a summer job when i'm not in school, i work at a Heating and Cooling place where i do metal fabrication for furnace and AC plenums..........i used left and right handed tin snips.....
I would use the air grinder or the dremel, but im fairly coordinated with snips so i used them...................
snips work well because they cut through the bumper w/ little hesitation, so if you don't mind feeling a little ghetto, you could use them. Make sure your cuts are nice though because its easy to make a bunch of nasty edges very easily!

I just cut the whole grill out, only because it looked like i couldnt mount the IC closer to the a/c condensor because of the black ac lines. Otherwise, I would have just trimmed the back of the grill. It looks fine completely out, although I prefer the grill intact. By the way, I used an air grinder to cut it out, I think I used the wrong attachment though because it sort of melted the plastic(grill) as it was cutting.
I suggest mounting it as close to the a/c condensor or radiator as possible, then try to put the bumper on and see what parts are hitting the intercooler, then trim to fit. It may take some time, time I didnt want to waste. Haha. But you can do it, just take your time!
good luck. take some pics when your done!

just cut that **** out! hahaha. i had to cut mine all out cause i had a 3.5inch IC. i also had to cut the brackets that hold my bumper lenses a bit too. just so that the IC pipes could reach the IC well. i don't have a/c anymore either. if you don't have AC, i'm sure u could push the IC back towards the engine more and maybe it'll fit a bit better.
schister, is your IC pushing on the grill? your car looks like mine
but mine isn't a monster truck like urs
lol
