I have a 92 integra GS-R with the B17a1 VTEC Motor. It has 243,400 miles on it. Doesnt burn oil. Only if I drive hard in VTEC then it will burn like most Honda's.
I drove the car around, got it up to normal operating temperatures, then did the test.
I read somewhere to just crank the engine over till the gauge stops moving (I've used c-speedracing's method of only cranking the engine over like 7 times, but wanted to try this method).
Here are the results:
1 - 210
2 - 190 (*185)
3 - 170 (*165)
4 - 200 (*205)
The gauge stopped moving pretty much after the 10th turn over, so thats what I did. I cranked the engine over 10 times and came up with these numbers.
The * represents where I cranked the engine over 12-13 times just to max it out, and thats where those numbers come from.
What do you think of these results?
The car sometimes idles bad where it will drop down to almost nothing, but doesn't feel like its going to stall, the idle just drops, and sometimes boggs a little around the 3000 rpms when I step on it. I think this is because of the next paragraph.
Also the number 4 spark plug looks to be fouled? not sure. It has some greenish stuff built up on the piece that you bend to change the gap. It has been doing this for a while.
It seems that whenever I put new plugs in, the bogg goes away, but then after awhile, it will start to bogg again and the #4 plug will be greenish again.
Also lately the car will start to overheat when I'm racing around and the revs are high. Not sure if this is because the radiator cant keep up. It's a brand new autozone radiator and new coolant.
Any help, advice, comments would be great appreciated.
Thanks

Your numbers do not look good. I assume that the trottle was wide open. Check your valve adjustment and redo the test. Also consider adding a small amount of oil to each cylinder to check for ring blow-by.
yes throttle was held wide open on each test.
didn't think about the valve adjustment. But I heard by doing a valve adjustment it puts added tension on old timing belts and could cause it to snap early because of the increased tension.
true or not true?

you want the GS-R? it could be for sale for the right price.
