how do u change the old springs for new lowering springs

Default how do u change the old springs for new lowering springs

ok me and my friend are gona change his springs on his 06 civ ex. were putting lowering springs on and we were woundering how do u change the old ones to the new ones ? is it just like changing the whole coil over system just u unscrew somthing to take out he springs ? i need help asap thanks

not sure how to exactly unmount the struts, but essentially you take the shocks/struts out with the springs as a whole assembly. 2nd, you want to remove the stock springs but not by simply unscrewing the tophat assembly off. get a spring compressor from a local auto shop (usually loan them out for free) and compress the spring down, then remove the top hat.

sorry i don't know much about the schematics of the car. i'm a former EK owner turned subaru, so hopefully i was able to help a little.

I'm like Mark, though. I have experience with EJ1's and a couple of crx's and ek's. Don't really know how to talk you through it, but I'll try to find a "how-to" thread that I saw for an eg.

its cake to do, i ahve done 4 of them this month. but really, if you cant figure it out, you should let someone else do it for ya, so you dont get hurt or hurt the car

Note: Getting the top nut off of the front struts is a PITA if you don't have an impact wrench.
