Default '84 accord

i'm trying to come up with a cool project car, and i'm kind of looking at the '84 accord hatchback. it's attractive looking, light as hell, and easy to work on.

are there any engine swaps that are feasible with this car? what kind of aftermarket does it have? (I/H/E options?) maybe a carb upgrade?

Your kidding right?

It has zero aftermarket. Any mods would have to be done custom. 2nd gen Accords are almost never moded. There are too few of them around.

i think the B series engines are swappable (that's a new word i think!) into that generation of accord...but custom is probably the key word here...good luck with that project!

Well if you wanted something older like that, you could always go with a 3rd gen (86-89) . IMHO, they are very attractive looking, and though very little aftermarket parts are available, there are a few things. Intake, headers, exhaust, adj. cam gear, cam regrind, and some other stuff I can't think of right now. I believe Gude even makes an entire head package (port and polished head, cam, bored TB, and maybe a few other things). And they're pretty lightweight too(DX hatchback would be lightest).

As far as engine swaps, I never really keep on top of those things. Someone on our board has a b16a in his '88 LX-i, and I've even seen an H22 squeezed in a 3rd gen hatch. Don't ask me how, but somehow they squished it in there.

Check out the engine swaps section on our website (link in my sig) for any more info

that's one of the reasons i'm considering it - something unique...and yes, i have a hard-on for ugly '80s cars.

another thing is that the gen2 models are lighter than the gen3. with a little weight reduction and maybe a better carburator these can be pretty quick.
