Default omnipower full coilover's. paint has peeled away.

just curious if this has happend to anyone else. I have omnipower full coilovers on my EK hatch. I bought them last april, put them through this winter, and i just looked recently and all the paint has pretty much peeled away from the springs. now they are starting to look dirty and rusty. i emailed the dealer i bought them from and they said to email omnipower. i did and they just said to buy another set of springs and send my current ones in to see if they are defective. i dont feel like dishing out cash to buy another set of springs are only a year old just to ship my current ones back.

when i have time ill try and take some pictures and post them. but im just curious if anyone else is having this issue?

well flexing metal under cyclic loading such as springs is most likely going to remove paint after enough stress...

very bad quality? i mean i read about the lower collars breaking, and i am going to get the replacement's. but other than that are they really bad quality. from the second i installed them there was a huge difference in the handling of my car. i love it. i can take corners super fast. and the price was right.

as for the springs, should i not worry about the paint? just let it peel off and leave it that way? or should i repaint them? i was thinking about sanding the springs down and putting rocker guard on them to protect them.what do you think of that idea?

seeing as omnipower says to pay for a new set and send the old ones back. there is no gurantee i will be getting them back so that doesnt seem to work out to well for me!

yea i figured that would be best. i will probably take them off and sand them down a bit just to get the rust off. then put them in that plastic liquid stuff. or spray it on.

I've had my apex'i springs on for around 45-55k miles, year round. I actually just took them off today, and the paint is only missing on the bottom where it rubbed the perch.

Sounds like the omni's were painted shitty

yea thats my guess too. most of my friends have eibach and what not and dont have this problem. i do understand here in canada the winters are pretty harsh cause of the salt and what not. but still, this is the first winter these things have gone through and this has happend. this car is going to become a summer only car. and im getting a winter beater for next year.
