225/40/18 tire on a 8.5" rim?
Can I run a 225/40/18 tire on a 8.5" rim? i would rather have a 235/35/18 tire, but its a rare size, meaning $$$$$$. 40 series are half the price. Help?
Those wheels and tires are WAY too big for any Acura/Honda automobile.
If it's for some other make of car, then I suggest you ask for advice on the forums for that kind of car. This is a Honda/Acura board.

A Ridgeline takes 245/65-17, 235/65-17 for an MDX. However neither one of those is an automobile.
BUT.....an NSX takes 255/40-17 and 225/40-18 is only 0.2%smaller. However I think that tire would just be to narrow for that car. Also for such cars it is recommended usually that you get whatever tire came with the car (brand, model, and size) to perserve the handling characteristics of the car.
So once again I think you are right Ken.

No, there a few people who decide to run 18s on hondas/acuras. Just no one runs 225/40-18 on hondas or acuras.
