Pirelli 7000 vs. Kuhmo Supra 712 vs. RE010's
Are these tires any good? How long do they last (usually under normal driving), how do they compare vs. the stock Potenzas? Hell they're half as much as the Potenzas...
I've never had the 7000's but I did have the 712's and I recommend them to anyone that wants good but cheap tyre. From all the folks I know there heck of alot better then the OEM's and they should last just as long as my friends tyres sure have lasted long time with both track and normal driving on them for whole yr which is alot wear and tear since they tracked them and autox them often.
I have a set of Pirelli P7000's on my hybrid. I love them. GREAT wet performance as well as good dry traction.
Not the best tires around, but definately great for the $$!

After being stationed here in Korea for over 10 months now (only 50 days to go!!), I've came to the conclusion that I wont ever buy anything for my car that is Korean made.....Kuhmo's included.

Sounds like you've had bad experience in Korea.
To answer the original question... also look at RE-730's. They get very good reviews and costs just a bit more than Kumho's and 7000's.
Did you look at SO-3s, Appearently those are vey good too.
Yes good - but expensive...

I've been very pleased with my 712's. One auto-x and much hard driving. They like a bit more pressure than the RE010's on the street, and you'll hate them for the first thousand or so miles. But after that? Nicey nice
The P700 seems to be a good tire for the $$. I had the P7000's, and didnt like them as much as the P700's. T
The 700's are $50ea at Tire Rack!

I had the RE730's...they did ok for a little while, but seem to go down hill. I tracked with them once and they got tore to hell.
I like the Kumho's better...seem more predictable...I also tracked with them and they held up tons better

why bother, when the azenis exist? I've got 7000s, and they're OK, but not amazing...driven my fair share of 712s in D's car, also decent, not amazing...the RE010s outgrip both in the smaller size, but wear faster and cost alot more...while the azenis outgrip all of these and cost less
I just did a track day on Monday here in Vancouver. I usually run R compounds (Yoko/Toyo) on the stock rims. But this time (due to laziness on my part), I went with 225/40 Pirelli P7000s on my 16" rims. I was amazed at their dry grip. They howled a lot but I noticed that the grip was very progressive and the car was easily controlled. The only thing that was not so good was the high speed braking - I found that the ABS kicked in quite a bit. (I was using OMP race brake pads) Usually with R compounds the ABS will not kick in. Overall though - I was very impressed with their performance.

OT: I have seen ALOT of the mustangs here using 712's for track and daily driven?
Are those popular for the mustangs?

Alrighty-thanks for all the replies guys.
So either way (the 712s or the 7000s) are good tires comparable to the RE010's at a fraction of the price, and extend tread life (pending driving conditions).
A flip of the coin?

Kuhmos suck, they're bricks. Buy Flaken Azenis instead.
RE-010s are a kick *** tire but they cost a lot.
Don't know anythin about the Pirrellis, sorry.

Well under 100 dollars each for 15's. I paid 97 each for my 16s (215/45/16). They grip like crazy, but they won't last very long. Probably about as long as the RE-010's (8-12k).
My roomate has Kuhmo 712s on his DSM and I guess they're OK, but if you want a truely high perfomance tire, they're not it.
