New to the Honda scene
Hey all Ive been into VW's for a while now but a couple of my friends may have convinced me to get a honda...
One of my friends knows someone who is selling a 93 Civic Hatchback with a 98 GSR motor in it. GSR interior, lowered, couple bolt ons, rims, all that good stuff.
Hes asking $5000 for it. Do you guys think thats a good price for such a car?

a gsr swap is more expensive than that.
If it runs well, no smoke, no funny noises, doesn't look like its been beat on too hard, $5k is good.

IMO its a steal considering a complete swap including labor will cost you 4k or more and the interrior pluss seats and the shell u do the math. I wouldnt pass on that specially now that B series engines are becoming more expensive. Supply and Demand is ganna make the prices of these engines insane. BUY IT
i may not kno much about cars but i find it strange that b series are gettin more expensive. i just sold a b18a motor that was knocking for a bill hah. but then id think people would actually try to go for the k series and get rid of their b series

Well K-Series will soon be more popular.. but currently there hella expensive... the engine IMO, is decently price its just everything else you need to buy will be a bigger grand total then you expect...

A GSR complete changeover on hmotorsonline is like $3,600 so it doesn't sound like a bad deal at all depending on how much he has beat on it.</TD></TR></TABLE>
WHAT?!?!? $3,600.00 for a OBD1 swap?!? Damn!! I think I'll keep my coupe a little longer then..
I'm going to build a B20 V-Tec in a minute.. long crower rods, SRP forged pistons and run it N/A.. I wonder how much my honda'd sell with that engine in it for..

your going to have to ask yourself a lot of questions before you even think about buying the car. unless you can make the repairs. in my experience majority of my friends buy cars with swaps in it some good some bad. but the bad ones you have to becareful because you can run into future problems such as wiring, smog, drivablity, etc. all that stuff. i mean yes it is a good deal because you get the car and you get a swap but you have to take in consideraton. why the guy did the swap? did he take care of it? are there any future or potential problems? its just like buying a used car with alittle more caution. i hope that helps.
