Default Kamikaze Header...

I am just wondering if anyone has had issues with using this header?

I currently have one on my H22 and the bolts keep vibrating loose where the collector meets, I don't know how to describe this right but it's where the four pipes come into one. I have used the Hi-temp locktite retorqued them after a few mile and I still keep having the gaskets burn up and have to replace them. I recently used two nuts per bolt in order to keep them from loosening on their own.

Just wanted to get opinions from the rest of you on this.

In addition to the Hi-temp loctite, you could also try using a nylock nut--if it doesn't get too outrageously hot.

then again, if it's something that you're not planning on having apart ever again, there's always JB Weld

Yeah I would like to be able to seperate it later. I thought about the nylock nut but it does get extremely hot and would melt the nylon.

Interesting... just an idea that came to me:

Mark where the bolt ends up when fully torqued, remove bolts, drill a hole through the bolt, and use a heavy duty locking pin of some sort? I don't know if it'd work, but it's a thought...

That's not a bad idea, if the current solution doesn't work which I will find out within a week or so I am definately going to try the locking pin idea.

oh....just thought about something else.......me having had worked in a hardware store.....i just remembered......they make a locking nut that has a place on the side of it that looks like a machine pressed a spot on the side.....so when you tighten up the nut on the bolt theres a pressure point that holds tight to the threads......might go to your local hardware or auto parts store bro

I'm having the EXACT same problem right now!!!! I'm on gasket number 6 in 3 months...

I recently realized my back motor mount is bad though. I think from that being bad and the motor rocking back and forth as much as it is, it's breaking the bolts loose...

I've tried the nylock bolts and go figure, the nylon part melted...

I'm going to install my ES inserts in the back mount and put a new Kamikaze gasket and bolt set in and hopefully that solves the problem!

Hey dreams who did you go through to order that gasket? I have been looking around on the internet and no one has the option to order just the gasket.

I know it's not my motor mounts, I had a bad one before the swap and changed it out. Hey hondamanmark, do you know what those nuts are called. I went to the local hardware store and asked about something along those lines and they said they didn't have anything except the nylanuts.

Oh and I have been using lock washers.

lock washers and enough torque are plenty to hold a collector together, the only reason you would be having problems is if you didnt have a flexpipe or doughnut joint.....do you?

SpeedFreak - I ordered it directly from Kamikaze. I tried the Mr. Gasket paper ones from Advanced Auto, yeah, those don't work... Call up Kamikaze, the link to order it online is broken on their site. $15 for the gasket, bolts with lock washers, and a sticker, and $5 for shipping.

Mgags - yes, there is flexpipe on the Kamikaze headers.

Thanks dreams, I tried those crappy paper one's also and now I am using one I got from the exhaust shop but I don't see that one lasting that long but longer than those crappy paper type ones.

Mgags, all the above listed is on the Kamikaze headers and I torqued them and after the first few times doing it by the book I just tightened the bolts down until I couldn't tighten any more. Hopefully the current setup works but if not I am going to look into the pin idea as listed above or find the nut that was mentioned earlier at the local hardware store.
