some short, really crappy videos
Well, I just figured out my digital camera shoots up to 30 seconds of video and audio, so I thought I might try and film a 0-60 dash, so I could continually time it on playback to get a ballpark 0-60 figure. First of all, this is a really stupid thing to do. Holding a little camera and steering with the left hand and shifting with the right hand is not safe. Neither is doing a 0-60 run on most roads. I did it at night with zero traffic on a wide-open and strait road with a stoplight. When the light turned green, I started the camera, then slowly let the clutch out at 1000 rpms for a slow start, but wound it out to 60. Well basically you can't see a thing, but I decided to share in this stupidity. If you decide to download the vids you gotta turn the volume up real loud to hear.
First: This isn't working. My first miss-shift ever! And I got it on video. (and I didn't say "ah ****" like you'd expect.
ahshit.avi .93 MB
Second: Just a zero to 60. Can't see ****.
0to60.avi 1.5 MB
Third: A zero to 7600 rpm (8000 indicated) in second, about 67 mph.
0to67.avi 1.9 MB
I'm timing at most 7.3 seconds for 0 to 60. With a drag-race launch I'd hope for 6.1~6.3 seconds.

Actually, I just timed them full screen with the brightness turned all the way up. I can just barely make out the tach and speedo in each. Now I'm timing 6.5 second 0 to 60s, so hopefully with a drag launch I can get 0 - 60s in the 5-second range. And yeah, I'm gonna get 1/4 times at the strip some day...
Of course this is all ball park... it's an indicated 60, who knows how fast (or slow) that really is and it's hard to tell when to start the watch and stop it.

I assumed it was his ABS light since that was lit up in his dash before... but I can't view those videos at work so I'm guessing blind...
