Default Sonic boom

so i picked up my 2002 i just bought today. i guess you all can relate to how giddy i was driving it back home, work in my case today, the first time.

it was a nice sunny day today. top was down. kinda breezy i guess. im taking the highway home, and i noticed there were several time when the air would kinda slam against my left ear due to the turbulence. kinda annoying. i raised the windows and it still happened.

anyone know what im talking about? suggestions on how to prevent it from happening more? yeah the small glass shield was up.

i guess im just surprised how much turbulence there still was. i even had a cap on, and it often felt like it was gonna blow off. i dont have much expereience in convertibles before. should i just expect this all the time?

Don't know if you know this, but the S2000 is a CONVERTABLE.

You could just put the top up.

thanks genius.

im talking about a little more than the wind blowing my hair around. the amount of force that the air hit me in my ear would be considered painful to others. if thats normal, then so be it, guess i cant keep the top down on the highways.

Nice dude, I picked up a 02 myself back in December...sold the CRX a couple years back.

Yeah i did the same thing today...did about 100 miles with the top down and got slapped in the ear a couple of times, nothing to worry about.

I usually wear a beanie because the first baseball cap I wore flew off, just so you understand the severity.

Exactly, the bill hits the seat if I wear it backwards.

If it was breezy, some buffeting in the cabin maybe due to crosswinds. You'll be impressed with the airflow over the cabin if you ever get caught on the freeway during a downpour, no water gets inside the cabin.

i never lost a hat, but usually my hardtop is always on...if i wear a hat with the top down i have to keep it low or wear it backwards.

You might try a bigger wind deflector. I think they've got some at s2ki market. It's about double the size of OEM. Not sure how well they work, though.

yeah i thought i was wearing the hat more to keep the sun out of my face. flipping it around did help it from feeling like it was gonna fly off. i look goofy with a visor on, so ill look into getting a beanie perhaps.

i think a bigger deflector would be really helpful. ill look into that.

It's actually on Rick's website.

http://www.ricks2k.com/products/aero.php

The little plate that blocks off the hole in the headrest might help, as well.

Two things to try...

1. Roll up the PASSENGER side window only. For real, it changes the airflow.
2. GO FASTER

very true. if you get caught in rain and stay above 45-50mph, you won't get wet. I got caught on the highway when it started raining even though it was still sunny out. Just kept going, not a drop hit me. I was impressed

Usually, you don't have much wind in the cockpit. But if you're taller than me (6') and have a cross wind, it might make a difference. But you still will have some wind inside, reguardless.

well ive been driving around some more since i bought the car.

honestly, i think it must have been a windy day that was causing it all, plus i think i was a bit too excited and was going over 90. i found under 80, and a hat on, and a non windy day, its mostly fine. but once i go past 90, i gotta take the hat off so i dont have to worry about losing it.
