For TIG, what works better- an autodarkening helmet or one with a fixed lens? thanks.

Battery-powered auto darkening.

I recommend a Jackson Journeyman, which is what I use too. It's a great helmet.

For bench work I have a 9000x and a 9002x speedglas and they work great but for doing work inside a car I use a standard helmet with the large glass. the auto darkening will turn off if the sensors are blocked by a roll bar or something get both auto and standard

I only use fixed. I have 2 autodark (one cheapy, anither expensive(can't remember what brand) and they always flash on and off no matter what I'm welding or the sensitvity level they're set at.

I use one of those at school, I believe it's a different model than the journeyman, but it is battery-powered. Great helmet.

autodarkning, miller inferno.

it's trully a nice helmet, a little arsh on price, but worth every penny.
fully adjustable.
I do have a fixed lens from Lincoln electric, I use it wen I Stick something, or miging overhead on big part's. not cause the miller won't do the job, simply cause I dont want spatter to even touch the lens...

hope this help, go to http://www.millerwelds.com for more info the their helmet, the full line is described very good and there is nice pic's of every helmet.

Kranked.
