Default Individual Throttle Body????

1)How loud would these be with Jun3 cams?
2)How horrible is the gas mileage with them?
3)how much power do they add give or take?
4)streetable?

any thoughts...

1. very loud
2. close to now if tuned properly
3. depends on your setup. could be a little, could be a lot. IN YOUR CASE MOST LIKELY A LITTLE
4. depends on your definition of streetable.

well I have a high compression Jun3 setup w/hondata being tuned by Mike K..you don't think it'd add much?? and is this thing louder than an apexi n1 exhaust? you think I'd get pulled over for it? any reliability issues?

SO you have over 12.5-13+:1 compression, headwork, everything you could possibly
do to the motor done already? THen yes you would see a decent gain. OTherwise
no.

You could probably easily hear it over the exhaust.
Pulled over is something YOU have to answer since i dont live near u.
Reliability? If you are asking that question, you arent ready.

Hey SGT,

Pardon my bliss of ignorance but, I know someone, that has these on his JDM/CTR motor tuned by J's racing. It is currently being shipped here and when it's ready I fully plan to have a spin with him. The car is no longer street legal as you could expect but, his statement when I asked him about why he had it done was:

"For the in ultimate throttle response..." Of course I can understand that since his engine is tuned to the max by J's that the individual TB's are just a natural addition but really the gains are not from using the TB's but rather combining them with an extremely tuned engine for gains.
I asked him about filtration and he explained how you can run it with little filter socks like on a Bike or open with the metal mesh screens.

He also mentioned that IF you lose it on the course in a turn and just happen to drift over the dirt, that the engine will most certainly ingest more dust/filth/dirt than a regularly intaked or filtered car.

Just the info I got from someone else who has it.

A.

aren't those basically used for racing applications that do constant rebuilds and tearing down of the motors? i'd highly doubt they'd be suitable for daily streetability...

1greyteg: i would like to know how modified that engine was.
True, the throttle response is incredible compared to a single TB system, however
I feel that this isnt something that you just throw on any motor. A race motor
I would understand, in the sense that it is purpose built and not confined to the
restraints of a street engine, such as a lower(read under 13:1) compression ratio
and milder cams.

Its quite possible that pinhead's setup could benefit greatly
from a set of ITBs, however without knowing the rest of his setup its hard to tell.
That and his squeamishness about "reliability" seems to say that he isnt ready
for things to break. Personally, I am at that point where if my motor lets go for
some reason, im quite content to just build another one and move on. Some
people arent able to do that as easily.

One day I too would like to have a set of ITBs on my motor, but I have yet to
run out of things to do to the rest of the motor. I would definitely spend the money
to increase the displacement before I were to spend the same amount of money
on an intake manifold.

I would like to see what that motor of your friend's makes on the dyno.
Please keep me informed.

When it arrives and it is installed I will advise you of all I know. It is a true race car that is not longer street legal and is solely used for track events and PDA time trials. J's has tuned it thoroughly and I have seen PICS on their site.

I'll let ya know,

A.

There is no dynograph to date that shows over 210 SAE WHP from my motor.
Everytime we strap it down it always puts down about 210/138. Yet the
~2600lb PIG of a car runs mid 12s. Either conditions at the track are very
favorable, or the dynojet is confused.

and ROSS: I've been gaining weight, pretty soon i'll weigh as much as your fat ***.

I must say SGT that is mighty impressive I'm pushing for 205 or so whp and to run mid 13's in street trim with Drag radials..definitely possible with a good 2.0 60' time

so with the same horsepower and 2.0 60' I should see 13.3's or so....and then I'll invest in some slicks maybe

Are the 12's timeslips converting to 4 lug with tiny brakes to run small diam tires with really wide sticky tires?
Just trying to see what a realistic street tires time would be for anyone anticipating a full spec C or B buildup.
Because, just looking at this, of course I'm all excited thinking I can go roast vipers AND be NA, but then I think this can't be done on street rubber.

I was stuck at low 13s until i went to 13" slicks.

Oh, and with the 5 lug on with my nice HEAVY prelude wheels, i can have fun
with A LOT of cars on the highway.

I'm sure with a full buildup and a good driver you can pull off mid-low 13's in street form...with drag radials like Bf's or Nittos also Vipers run like 12.8's but you can smoke vettes and cobras and trans am's take your v8 pickins
what were you 60' times on 15in slicks ?
