which is faster
vw seems to run 15.1 from the times i have been able to find and the civic runs about 15.1 from what i have seen but im sure the si can out handle the gti becouse of weight diffrances
and from a roll i think the vw might pull harder becosue the turbo is already spooled but then again im not sure how mutch lag they have so it might spool very early in a launch to
basicly it seems to be a drivers race and it will aslo depend on the type of racing

the new gti and the si are both sick *** cars right now!!! as much as ilove the si i think the vw would beat the si. Si is heavier then gti. These two cars are the sickest for 06

yes, but look at the torque on the GTI compared to the Si
GTI has 207 Ft Lbs @ 1,800-5,000
the Si has 139 @ 6100
torque is what gets the car moving from a stand still

im sure the vw has alot of untaped potential though with $2,000 in mods i think the vw will end up quicker
but n/a power is better imo plus you get better gas milage and a lighter car

the si would require some work im guessing
does it have a returnless fuel system?? i know the tc does and we can actualy run boost decent stock but then again we run about a 9.6:1 compretion ratio and the si is 11:1 isnt it?? im guessing your going to need more fule then the returnless system can properly supply
i dont know realy to mutch about returnless systems but i think this is like comparing to very nice cars ment for diffrent things but that is just me
all i realy know is i would take either over my tc right now
ok it does have a returnless system so that will hinder this a little also the fact that it runs sutch high compretion does it have forged rods to handel the boost it will be taking up?? and how will the ring lands hold up at the high compretion with boost
there are many many more questions that could be asked but feel for the price a boosted k20z3 will cost you might as well spend it n/a and be more reliable and more of a sleeper

oh definetly.
the older gen 1.8t gti's that were chipped got like 50 extra hp
i love both cars, the vw is a fun, torquey little hatch back that looks like fun and the si is a high revving 2 door.
but the gti is a bit more money..

Thats what im thinking. The VW already has a turbo so just tweek the boost controll alittle and BAM more power. The Si engine is already about strung out as much as it can go so it doesnt have much room to grow without a swap (k24) or enigne work. But with both cars stock.. I think it would probably be a drivers race.

I looked at the GTIs before I decided to go with the SI, granted I wasn't shopping for speed. Like mentioned above, it's dependant of the drivers in these cars, stock anyway. I've seen vids of two 'not perfect' drivers, and the Si was only a step ahead of the GTI. Good drivers in the SI stock can get 14.7, and I'm sure you could do the same in a GTI. VW is all about the torqe.
