how much did you pay for paint and materials for your paint job?
im planning on having a guy i know respray my car soon an stopped by a local paint store to see how much all the materials would cost. they told me it would be $315.75 for just three qts of milano red base and including clear and reducer etc. it would be $486.04. the dude that is painting my car told me that base should only cost aroung $150 or so and that everything together should only be like $300-$350. Is he wrong or am i getting ripped? how much have you guys paid for paint? where did you get it from?

well ull prolly not like what im gonna say but i paid nothin. My father works for Automotive color and supply, and he paints for a living so he hooked me up. I went from the stop red color on my da to a deeper red called crystal red glaze found on the 02 and up chryslers. but if i would have had to pay i would have said around 2500 or so
Yea thats not a bad price. What manufacturer of paint is it do you know?
As far as what I paid for my matierals I get discounted because of goin to a tech school and doing it myself. It should only take a good painter a less than 2 quarts and a small car.
I got 2quarts of r-81
gold, blue pearl
and clear for 500 bones but like i said i get discounted and I do it my self

I went about it this way, and Ive done it 3 times now.
I went to my local community college and took their Auto Body & Paint class...
They provided all the materials I needed minus the paint and clear.
So it was the cost of the class and $180 for paint/clear/reducer/ect...They got a smokin deal through a local auto paint store for the class.
The only downfall is that you only have like 3 hours per week to work on your car. So it took me an entire semester to get the car done. But that all depends on the condition of your car to begin with.
