Default RSX oil filter on ITR

Has anyone tried the RSX oil filter on their 97-01 ITR. I picked one up today after comparing the 2. The rsx filter is Much smaller. Why would you run a smaller filter you ask? In the "Legend of the Type R" video The president of Spoon sports was talking about using a smaller oil filter to prevent oil pressure flucuation while on the track.

I figure I'll give it a try. I use mobil one and the car has had at least 7+ oil changes in it 12,000 mile life, So I don't think I ever "use/dirty" and oil filter to its fullest anyway. Any thoughts?

The small HAMP filter will do the same thing....

Yup. You answered your own question. Keeps the pressure up and a cheap alternative to the small hamp ones.

You could also take the stock filter and put ties on it to keep it from flexing as much

anyone know how the filters compare to a b16a oil filter ?, the b16a filter looks kind of small to begin with, wonder if the rsx filter is even smaller, and would it fit ?

if the filter is smaller, i'm figuring the oil filter element inside will have a smaller surface area. any compromises in actual filtration?

He means put a hose clamp/metal band around it. That also keeps the pressure level up not allowing the filter to expand under pressure.

I was told all of the RSX filters are the same

I would assume the filter element is smaller, however at the rate I change my oil and filter I don't think it will be a problem. Also Honda designed this to work with a larger displacement engine, again "assuming" it should work fine.

RSX filter gives up to 15psi more oil pressure under hard throttle, so actually it can HURT your performance if your motor does not respond well to the higher pressure.

I tried one, and noted the difference in oil pressure.. but I just went back to using the P0H-305 filter.

Mike K....
Do you think a STOCK motor should use a RSX oil filter in terms of perfromance gain/loss ??

I just though a little more oil pressure is not a bad thing for the engine.

Thanks

I wouldn't bother.

Unless you're a road race stunna and you think that it makes that much of a difference.

Stock part number works fine.
