looking at buying an 87. what to look out for
he is asking 1000 dollars for it. has 135k miles. its a 5 speed lx-i. just wondering what i should look out for and if the price seems reasonable. the body is near mint.
Well Rubin, You're starting off right. The LXi (Fuel Injected) has the better engine (more hp and more easily maintained for a DIY'er)
They (as a model line) have some minor issues.
Power Antenna craps out
Tail Lamps leak from dried out gaskets
Flip-up Headlamps sometimes bind from ice build-up and drain the battery
Flip-up Headlamps sometimes break the lamp wiring harness inside the bucket from the constant flexing.
Expect to replace the "A" Exhaust pipe at least once every 6 years. The Chinese Finger Trap flex section corrodes thru.
Age issues with suspension bushings (they dry out over time)

thanks for the heads up. he has just replaced the cv joints and exhaust. is this a fair price? the paint is still mint so i would assume so, but im new to accords
If it passed it's last safety check, I'd say yes.
I'd expect a lower price on either a "salvage" or "for Parts Only" vehicle, but that doesn't appear to be the case here.
It's a big plus that he's repaired it right up to selling it (shows he had a vested interest in it). Why is he selling?
