Default Temp gauge problem

I have a 95 accord LX with a 4cyl, the temp guage has never worked on the car (it's always burried in bottom) and it's something i'd like to get working again. So i'm wondering where in the engine is the sending unit? And how can I test it to see what wrong? Find out if it's the sending unit or the guage or maybe a broke wire?

I'm not sure of the location on that car, but I can tell you how to test it. Either with a Multi-Meter or with another temperature display. Basically it starts at 0 ohms and slowly increases in the amount of power being passed through as the heat increases.

From what you stated with it being buried at 0 no power would be passing through if it was failing.

I would lean more towards a faulty wire or display. Temperature sensors don't normally go bad.

hmm, so if I find the sending unit in the engine and hook it up to my multi-meter I should watch the ohms on it increase as the engine gets hotter. Thanks for the info, now I just have to find out where that sucker is at....

It should be located high on the engine, in the vicinity of where the upper radiator hose attaches.
It will look like this:

I hooked it up to my multi-meter and go a 0 reading from it, so i'm gonna swing by the advanced auto tommorow and pick one up

and there was 2 sensor spots that use the same connection, circled in this pic

my question is am I looking at the right places? And whats the name of that part I need to get to replace them?
