P28 is for the 92-95 Civic hatches with a D16Z6 motor which has VteCh....

PO6 is for the same 92-95 hatches but use the D15B7 motor with no VteCh...

and we elitists know that everything with vteCh is better and worth more....

The PO6 ecu can be modified to control vtech tho.

The key is you need to look for a particluar board # when looking at the P06 for VTEC conversion. You need to look for a P06 Manual or a P06-A52 automatic. The A52 is the only Auto with the correct board id#. The A51 and A50 are not the correct #. The board # you are looking for is 02D011F0-1500. Most of the 5spd P06 ECU's have this #. To be sure open the case before buying.. I am not sure if any of the other board ID's can be chipped but the one listed above is the easiest by far. It is identical to the P28.. Look at the pics below...

Here is the board ID #:

P06 without VTEC components

P06 without VTEC solenoid diode:

Unchipped area of P06.. Look familiar to P28!

P28 Auto with VTEC components

P28 with VTEC solenoid diode

Hope this helps!!

For some reason I coulda sworn you could use any p05 or p06. There is just a different conversion process for the board variants. http://www.xenocron.com has kits for the conversions of many different formats.

The p28 is used by alot of people to chip and tune their caR (I have one). You need a jumper harness for OBD2 to OBD1, then you plug and play your chipped p28 and start tuning... hope that gives you another answer

you can use any 92-95 civic ecu except for the VX (P07 i think) all 11FO boards, and even the 1720 boards are chippable. i can even chip the JM P30 ECUs (extremely pain in the ***)
