Modding stock antenna to come only halfway up
Hey everyone! New to the forums here. Well, new to posting... I've been lurking for a little while.
I bought a 97 GSR a few months ago and have been rather strapped for cash since I bought it. I certainly don't regret doing so - it's an amazing car. But since I've been on a tight budget, I haven't had the funds to do some of the more expensive mods I'd like to do. So I'm left with the few cheap cosmetic mods that are easy to do myself (eg, gauge pod bulbs, shift ****).
Anyway, I was browsing the Post-your-teg thread and noticed a couple of tegs with their antennas only half-way up. I'd been thinking about getting an S2000 antenna, but then I saw these. It got me thinkin' that the stock antenna wouldn't be so bad if it just wasn't so goddamn tall.
So here's the pic with the couple of tegs I saw that had their's like that:

I would have simply PM'd them, but as a n00b, I'm not allowed to use the PM system yet.

save your money and buy performance stuff intsead of wasting it on shift *****. you can buy a switch that will not make your antenna go up at all, just a normal rocker switch. that's pretty cool.
I was hoping there was some way you could just program the antenna to never even go higher than halfway ever. Would I just have to install that switch and plug it in to the right place?
And the shift **** was just a fun thing to do. I'm not going to get all that much closer to affording performance parts by saving $15.

you could just break your antenna like mine. a piece of cardboard bent it almost 90 degrees so i just ripped it out.... or you could just unplug your antenna through your cd/radio player. i ended up doing that because the antenna motor would still go on and off after my antenna broke.
Well I figure there's got to be SOME way to do it. They seemed to have managed it somehow:

Tho, the second of the two seems to just be one that's broken off at that height...
Maybe now that I've made some posts I can use private messaging and I can ask them how they did it.
