Default need a title for a 02 gsxr 600

whats sup guys im about to buy a bike off a friend for a sweet deal but the bike has no title. I dunno if it was lost or if the bike was crashed and rebuilt i have no idea. I was wondering if theres a easier way to getting a title and registering this bike rather than buying a used frame and swapping everything over then getting it on the road legally. If anyone has done this or know's of a way help me out .. Thanks guys IM in NJ by the way

Just call up your local DMV. That's the surest way to know.

Your friend doesn't know what happened to the title? That's strange...

he bought the bike off a guy that usta live in the area 2years ago when he was like 18 . the guy was moving and needa to get rid of the bike but it didnt have a title.. SO who knows who acutally has the title. Or if it was lost. i was just trying to see if anyone lost a title and got it replaced how much did it cost or how to go about doing it. Ill go pass dmv and explain and see what they have to say im sure people loose titles every once in a while

chances are whoever used to own it had a load on it and didn't feel like paying for it anymore. lienholder is probably holding the title?

if the dmv couldnt help then there is something wrong, just by doing a VIN search they will tell you who owns it or has the title.

so you are buying a bare frame with a "legal" vin with a title and swapping everything over?

thats super fishy man.

best of luck to you and i hope you're not doing anything illegal

Even if you find a titled frame, you still have to worry about the VIN on the motor when they inspect it
