HELP!!! with OFF SET - TIRE - 15's
K so this is my dilema. I wanna get the work equip 03. The problem is that i wanna have a nice as much lip possible. Im told to get max 8" on this. but that they will stick out from the car. at least 1 inch. wich is something that i want. cause i wanna put smaller tires. a seller here was telling me NOT to get the 8" (W) because they will stick out. and the off set for the 7" it 38. when i asked for sample pics and to help me out he didn't..
any ways can someone tell me whuts the perfect set up? meaning i wanna know the off set for this on a 8". If i can get the same 2" lip on a 7" then thats great. also the OFF SET wich im lost on that. i have a Civic ex 98. If ypu got this wheels post pics with info on them.

15x8 is way too wide for your car. For 15" tires on your car, you should be getting 195/55-15 or 205/50-15 tires, neither of which can be mounted on 15x8 wheels. Get wheels that are anywhere from 15x6 to 15x7, no wider than 15x7.

If you look at the rear of this car

You can see what happens when you mount thin tires on wide rims. It's called the stretched look. old VW guys love it. It's pretty much for looks only. That's actually a pretty hot VW, *sigh* I miss my dub.
Cheers.

The green eg. his wheels are 15"x8 +38 tires 195-45-15 I just found out.
as for the black VW. thats way wider than the eg. i don't know the width of it.
Now that i know whut the first guy has. I don't know if the ride confort is good or not... maybe i should find out if the owner posted on here. (i Hope) . but pls keep coments/help coming.

stretched tire look is popular with 240s also. my friends put a 205s on a 16x8 didnt look too crazy.
someone had a pic of the 15x8 work equips on a integra the rim was pass the fenders. its going to need a roll, and pull of the fenders and some camber to make them work. also a streached tire.
another way to get more lip would be to run a more narrow rim and lower offset. like a 15x7 with say a 30-25 offset you will basically achieve the same thing....

Most 205 tires are not approved for rims that are 15x8. But some 205 tires are approved for rims that are 16x8.
You can look up the specs for any model of tire, either on the tire manufacturer's website or on the website of a tire dealer like the Tire Rack. The specs include the range of approved rim widths for each size.
You're asking for trouble if you mount a tire on a rim that is wider than approved by the manufacturer.

If it's not supposed to be mounted on a wheel that wide, it's possible you won't be able to mount it at all, or it could build up heat or otherwise have problems with too much stress on the bead (the area where the tire comes into contact with the wheel), etc.
Are you trying to impress your friends with "low riders"?

nope. just that i like how the OLD JDM guys had it (still do it) . and how the VW do it. thats all. the green eg has smaller tires. i like how the tire goes in insted of a flat wall up.

how in the world did i miss your post? . anyways yeah this one dude is saying 15X8 will rub badly. I seen 15x7 +38 and they don't have no deep dish at all. just a small little lip. and just how u mention to get the 30-25 off set is good. this guy said to get a 20 Off set and will have the same look. just how u mention. and it will tuck in nicely. no rubbing at all. no suspension problem. I just gotta see if a 20 off set is safe. because im read that stayin close to a 40 off set say 38 is best and not to go lower.
this is how much lip i want.. i don't know who the owner of this are.

This one is way too deep IMO.

That will work however the problem will be your wheel sticks out just as far on the outside. So you will have some of the exact some rubbing problems on the outside of the fender. It just takes away some of the tire on the inside of the wheel well. There is also your typical wheel bearing problems associated with running a small offset.

+38 should be max right.
