02 RSX headlight bulbs blow
I was wondering if any of you RSX techs could help with my problem.
My lady friend's 02 Base RSX keeps blowing the light bulbs, but not instantly. Recent mods include alpine head unit w/4channel amp as well as clifford alarm/remote start.
from experience, i know that if the head unit was the problem, then the bulbs would blow upon turning the head unit on
the remote start should also blow the lights upon activation if that was the problem
*she has used the oem bulbs as well as sylvannia (spelling??) and they both blow kinda randomly.
im sure the way that she changes the bulbs is by stickin her hand in the top and removing the rubber gasket, not by removing the bumper.
any ideas of why the lights are blowing?

Well, that is a common problem with some RSX's.
My advise, make sure the boot is properly installed and sealed. The tiniest, most miniscule bit of moisture and the H1's tend to pop. Also, this is kind of basic, but make sure you don't touch the tip of the bulbs at all during install. Oil on hands + bulbs = pop. Double check to see if the bulb is properly seating in the x clip. Rattling around will obviously destroy the bulb. Thats really is all it could be, besides faulty or damaged bulbs.
Mine tend to blow out every couple of months but that is because my car is so low and roads suck in Northern Jersey. But I have found that the Sylvanias last the longest in my car.

finally! thanks for a reply. i know all about the installation of the bulbs cause i drive a 5th gen lude and it has a very similar mounting method. i installed a set for her and they blew later in the week and im sure i didnt touch anything. i hate dealing with other people's cars
I was told by Acura that there were no other compatible bulbs other than the OEM bulbs. I think that is a crock of S@$T but since I replaced mine with OEMs, they have been fine again.
I was using the Silver Stars because they are the best bulbs out there that are not HIDs.
