Default WTF!! rear brake piston boot...

ok, i'm rebuilding my rear calipers so I can FINALLY drive my damn car... How th F*** am I supposed to get the piston boot into the caliper and have it seal? It's damn near impossible.. I almost had it onc,e but then I realized there was no way to get the piston in there afterwards. whoever has done this, please give me some pointers.. i'm 95% done with building my car and this **** is holding me back... talk about a pain in the ***....

edit: yes I checked th repair manual and all it said for how to do it was " grease the sealing lips and insert the piston boot into th caliper. insert th piston into th caliper and be sure to not damage the piston boot or piston seal" that leads me to believe i shoudl put th piston in last and not try to put the piston boot into th caliper while it's partialy on the piston, but the piston boot part that seals against the piston is 1/2 the diameter of the piston and would need to be stretched over the piston which woudl probably lead to me accidentally pulling out the other part of the boot that seals inside the caliper..

You'll probably have to take the piston out of the caliper. Then check the little square, rubber seal. Grease that. Then position the boost correctly - then turn the piston back in the caliper. The boot doesn't have to be all the way in there. Its supposed to be visible. It should "correct" itself once you actually start braking. Make sure its greased.

nah, there is a lip it's supposed to seal into.. it's just not going in there all the way.

Do you mean it goes in but you cant push it the rest of the way in or wat? Cuz if thats the case take a c clamp and force it into place like if your changing your brake pads.

basically you take the piston out. slide the boot into the groove on inside the caliper and start the boot on the piston a little way up.

then on the rear you gently turn piston in slowly.. when i did my brake rebuild i fashioned some stiff thin wire to tun around the boot to ensure it was all on properly..

its a slow process don't rush it or you will ruin the piston.

on some calipers, you need to use compressed air to "inflate" the boot so as to expand the opening while puting the piston in it. i dont really know how to explain it.
