Question about 92 prelude h22 swap
OK, so im having my H23 replaced with a H22a (JDM) and the shop i took it to is dumb as hell.... they said it cranks over but it will not start. they said its getting fuel to the fuel rail but not the piston chamber.. they told me it might be the starter kill on my alarm but that kills the car from even turning over... no keeping in mind it ran when i took it in there. they are saying that my fuel pup is tapped with speaker wire (and i know for a fact that it IS NOT) since i have stripped that car down many times. but my question is. what should i try to get it to run? they said the wiring is correct they checked it many times but i still say its on them since i NEVER had a single problem before with anything...
thank you

Dont worry about getting the car to run, you should take your car and run from that shop!
If there is fuel at the rail but its not getting to the chamber than there is an issue with the injectors
Is it getting spark? Timing checked and double checked? Signal to injectors checked?

a person i was talking to said it might be th PGFI (programmed fuel injection) relay also they are telling me that the ECU is not powering up... does this make any sence to you guys cuz this shop seems to blow smoke up my *** all day. it has been there for a month now and my friend called for a price on the same thing just to see what they say and they said it would take MAX 3 days to complete.

If they honestly don't know what they're talking about, don't go by anything they say UNLESS they show you exactly what they're doing to test it and you know exactly why it would be proper to get a diagnosis from that.
First, check for compression, spark, and fuel. Let us know which one it is not getting.
Compression - do a compression test.
Spark - take out a spark plug, put it in the spark plug wire, ground the ground strap of the plug onto the head or valve cover and see if a bright fat blue spark arcs on the plug
Fuel - pull the fuel line from the end of the fuel rail and see if it's getting fuel. If it's getting spark and compression and fuel at the fuel rail, pull the injectors and see if they're all firing correctly.

I can't remember off the top of my head; do the JDM H22a's have the external coil or internal?

Then it must be something smaller, like wiring. Check on the distributor issue, also make sure all grounds are connected and no plugs are interchanged (IIRC, the knock sensor plug is interchangeable with one of the intake manifold sensor plugs....)
Double check the wiring, I double checked mine before actually dropping it in and was 100% positive that it was correct. Come to find out I somehow switched two of the plugs and the engine ran like crap until I figured out the problem.
I know my JDM H22 was an internal coil.
Also if the timing is way off there is no way that thing is going to fire up. Same thing with mine. Timing was way off and wouldn't start, ended up being the timing light I used, solved the problem by buying a new one.

I've had my car run with one and two teeth off on the timing belt, as well as it cranking fully advanced and retarded at the dizzy. If it's way off on the belt, then it won't start.
I've found that usually a jumped belt will throw off the compression numbers, as well.
