b16 or Gsr Head for Ls Vtec ???
I've Heard mixed tings, I just want to know what you guys think, And whats options are there out there for me if i want to make a N/A car run like a *****. Right now i have an ls block sleeved to 85mm with endyn rollerwave pistons and a stock ls crank, eagle rods. I have a gsr head but before i buy cams and a whole new vavletrain i want t o know if it will be worth it to put all this money into a gsr head if it wont have the potential of a b16. All comments welcome.
if compression is an issue with your motor....i.e its to high right now...then i'd use the b16 head...supposively when using ethier head for ls/v...the GSR yeilds slighty higher CR...but i'd use w/e head you have...they are both great heads...and i wouldn't sell one just to get the other... my .02
stock vs stock b16 flows a lil better. but if you send it out to get ported, it all depends on the port job and cams you run. so just work with the head you have
ive always heard that the b16 head is the same as the R but just with out the hand porting and cams and other valvetrain but the same casting . IMO id go with the b16 head b/c there are more IMs available and i think they are cheaper not sure . and not to mention the head is probaly cheaper than the gsr

Use whichever head you've got. Both are great.
Slightly more flow vs. slightly more compression. You can change either with pistons or porting. Pick the most economical. Valvesprings and cams differ a bit but nothing too serious.

He hit it right on the money ^^^^^
The gsr out of the box will have a bit higher cr... but the b16 has better flow characteristics... So it really depends on how far you plan to take your car. i say b16 if your going to mess with cr anyway. just imo
edit- and you should think about getting an new avatar pic... i'm pretty-sure thats jdmlifsstyles picture, and avatar stealing isn't cool.
