Well today at 1:40 in the rainy afternoon, I am on my way home from the mall...

I realize I was going the wrong way, so I get off on an exit to make a U-turn...

As I'm going down the off-ramp, with a cement wall on the left, and a steel guardrail on the right...Me in the left lane, this big black suv/truck (i can't remmeber what it was since I wasnt paying attention to it)

Suddenly it cuts into my lane (im thinking they didnt look in their mirror or check their blind spot and just cut right over)

I hit the brakes to avoid getting clipped in the fender/bumper, but since it was raining and our speed ~50mph, my rear came right out....i tried to countersteer but my front left scraped the wall, then i did a 180 and my rear hid the guardrail

Thankfully I nor anyone else is hurt, I had no passengers. Classic Buffalo, NO ONE stopped to see if I was ok. I saw ppl's faces as they drove by, mouthin "Oh ****" but the guy who cut me off (who probably doesnt even know they cut me off) and everyone else kept going.

edit: list of damage: front lip scraped and dented. front bumper scraped and dented. edge of driver's fender scraped and dented (and on top of that, that fender had been keyed late last year). tail light cracked. rear quarter panel (under gas tank) bent in. rear bumper scraped. piece between tail light and bumper bent, that whole thing probably needs to be replaced.

Sounds like what happened to me. After my accident, all I could do was thank God I was still breathing. Glad to hear your ok.

i was looking at it, its a possibility. probably not tho, my hood and other fender are fine. i 'll have to see what insurance says but for now im still bitching at the driver

 

if i knew this was going to happen i would've. but instinct was to avoid it...as soon as i touched the brake, i felt the car start to spin, i was like uh-oh.

 

glad your alright...the damage to the car does not look bad at all, in that the frame is untouched.

 

to people who can't drive their way-too-goddamn-big SUVs.

BTW, what part of Buffalo do you live in? I'm from Lancaster.

ratedR - yeah it happened so suddenly and by the time it was over, everyone who saw it and the guy was gone.

jay, glad to here your alright...funny that my first post on here is a response to one of my friends getting in an accident. i dont want to offend you or anyone else, but take it from someone that got in 2 accidents in the bmw before my s2000, you always have to watch big trucks on the road, you cant assume that they will drive well.

you are a person that doesnt deserve any accidents, and it was the trucks fault but just watch out in the future. paying attention can even save you from accidents that arent your fault. i was gonna call but my cell is dead

No, I live in Phoenix now. But it sucks you have to live in such a shitty place with such a nice car. Buffalo streets are the worst!! Obviously the drivers suck too.

Too many SUV driver don't know how to control their truck......especially those BIG SUV like Tahoe, Expedition......etc They should know their truck has a wide area of "blind spot".

your lucky i seen my friend in a head-on 80 kp/h and walked away from it. he jumped out throught the window frame and the a piller he cliped his car on the driverside now were waiting for his slow A$$ to build a new car

Jay, looks like the car and yourself escaped major damage! Sorry to hear about the accident though!! YOu got rain there, but here in Toronto we got at least 5 inches of snow, I was caught off gaurd since it started to snow in late morning, now I had to ditch the car at work and hitch a ride home since I brought my ITR back on the roads last week, thinking winter is behind us. RE010s ain't letting the car get out of my work parking lot!
