High mileage B18c w/bad tranny project....
I may have the opportunity to purchase a used high mileage B18C engine off of a friend with a shot tranny. I am wondering if this would be a worthwhile project to tackle. I figure it would be a good chance to rebuild the engine with all new internals and such. I would be swapping this with my D16Y8 I currently have in my EX coupe. What do you guys think? What would be a good asking price for this to be worth anything in the end?
Thanks in advance,

How much are you paying for the longblock? Also, are we talking about a B18C or B18C1? Just wanting to get some info...
I haven't given him an offer yet and he's hasn't given me a price also. It's from a GSR and I would want the whole swap including the bad tranny. I know the engine has over 70k and I'm assuming it's OBD1. I figured on offering like $1500 for everything and just taking my time rebuilding it. His car has just been sitting in storage w/o the tranny for about 2 years and I'm trying to get him to part out with it. Is this something I should tinker around with or just save my $$ and get a complete changeover with less miles and such?

70k is nothing. But if you can convince him that it's a lot of miles to get the price down, go for it.
I would buy it if I were you. If you can get everything minus the tranny for $1500, I think it's WELL worth it. Just get some pistons and rebuild a few things and you'll have basically a brand new motor.
