Default What would be the Best Setup For A Type-R Motor??

Do you guys think that a turbo setup with or without Nitrous would be a good setup for a Type-r Motor?? Do you think it would go better than a regular GS-R motor with the sam e setup??

I know at least one person is going to disagree with me, but i was thinking of putting a turbo on my R and i did all the searches and granted you can go turbo on the R, the high compression isnt really boost friendly and it seemed that ls motors with their lower comp. put out close to the same numbers. and besides, all motor costs a bit more but id much rather look that mustang in the eye when you just ran a 13.4 to his 13.5 and tell him i've got 4 cylinder's and no boost, whats your excuse?

It can be done. How well it will perform depends on your budget. How long it will last will depend on how well it was built and designed, boost parameters and how much the driver abuses it. Count on a replacing pistons at least plus all your turbo/NOS stuff.

I rather run an 11 to his 13 and just watch him stare at the front mount in awe.

most people run into lots of problems when they break into the 11 second barrier...my car was fine..and when I starting breaking in the 12's my motor was giving me some problems....it's all about having speed you can count on and a reliable motor in my eyes

Well I had a high flow fuel pump/fpr/fpr just for nitrous/direct port 100 shot/msd 6al with retard box/I/H/E the basic stuff for nitrous....colder plugs etc..

I pinged my rev limiter once and bent 10 valves instantly it sucked horribly...also I messed my tranny up and I'm still trying to fix it to this day...and everytime I use the nitrous little things seem to go wrong and I hear new noises in the engine
oh and it's a 2000 ITR

I'm going turbo but you have to realize the money you will need to do it. I didn't know how bad it was going to hit me till I actually did it. Custom setup, pistons, rods, sleeved, Hondata, but thats what you need for serious power...... MONEY!

too much money i say

sure boosting 5lbs is safe, but for a kit that costs that much, you have yourself a pretty damn beefy n/a setup

i don't think it's a good idea, cuz i hear those bolt on turbo sux, and i bought some japanese magzines which are all type R, they use Apex turbo kit on ITR and set it in a safe zone, but dyno got 238, which i expected more on a turbo type R. Rest of ITR in the book are all motor, and they got 225 with all motor man.(i don't no about detail cuz i can't read japanese) So i believe it would be better if you go all motor or just supercharge it. And i would last long if you have more stock sutffs on. 225 whp is a GOOD number for me, but not for all of you, but i can tell you it's FAST even it's not a crazy number for you guys, the best thing with all motor is everytime ppl pop up your hood, it looks stock !

So what do you guys think? Is it better to go turbo on a Type-R or just go straight motor with nitrous?? What would be the downfall of putting a turbo on a Type-R???

either way is never cheap . im changing my set up still remaining N/A
but going 2.0l with headwork thats a pretty penny 4000.00 at least .
and changing the Spoon cams to something more radical , like Skunk stage 3(see how they perform in my friends ride ) or going with some Toda's depending on some new stuff but that should get me in the 12's at pamdale .
going turbo is changing youll hold set up . changing your tranny gearing or going gsr with ls gearing with lsd. and many other things in order to run a nice set up with 10-12lbs daily driving and at the track 15-17lbs. equals mad $$$$$
