do i need tophats?
Im getting some koni yellows with H&R race springs for a EK. Do i need some tophats to give it more suspension travel or am I good? This is for a daily driver. I want something that will last very long.
H&R Race springs with standard Koni yellows will make your car sit on the bump stops. I have the H&R Sports and I have very little shock travel left even with the bump stops cut.

buying the top hats which GC sells for $119 for 2 will allow more suspension travel, about 1" so if your lowered quite a bit, having the top hats will make the ride better as it will not be on the bump stops. Lowered cars don't have alot of suspension travel to start with, this is a good way to get 1" back which is close to 50% if lowered about 2.25"

The GC top-hats are recomended for coilover sleeves only. Coil-over springs are centered by their inner diameter, while lowering srings are centered by their outer diameter. This can cause regular lowering springs to move around on their seat.
You really only need the top-hats if your going 2.5" or lower. They deffinently make a difference over bumps when your lowered 3", but you can't really get that low without coil-over sleeves anyways...

I vouch on that. I'm down almost 3", and even with the extended top hats, I'm nearly on the bumpstops. Without them, at my current height, I'd probably be left with 1/2" of travel.

Agreed. The nice thing about the GC top hats is that they come with softer & slightly longer bump stops. Even though you're ride relativly close to them, they create a much more softer & more progressive bump-stop effect.

No, Neuspeed springs are not "specifically" made for Koni's (but they are the BEST shock you can use with them)...</TD></TR></TABLE>
From what I hear the ground control and koni yellow set up is the best.

Uh, well it's a matter of opinion, but yeah that's what I use. If you re-read my statment it's saying that Koni shocks are the best shock you can use with that particular spring (not the best shock spring combo
). Others may disagree (ahhem---Tyson--ahhem), but that's what opinions are all about...
