get some pistons. used b16 pistons if you are really on a budget.

What kind of c/r will you get by using the B16a pistons or the type-r pistons an the B18a/b? What will have to be modified to use these pistons and will the setup be reliable? I am also thinking about using these pistons also.

i have usdm itr pistons in my car very reliable had them for about 4000 miles no problem yet only thing you will need to do is shave the rods to fit the pistons and pump higher octane gas so you don't detenate

Really is that all you have to do? How hard is it to shave the rods? So besides the pistons and the new rings what else will I have to buy to make this work?

pistons is all you need. but if you want to put some money into it, go oversized, get new bearings, new gaskets. any machine shop can shave the side of the rod for you to put the itr piston on there. you will need the piston, wrist pin and new rings. compression with us itr pistons will be 10.32:1. with 1st gen or usdm b16a pistons, your compression will be about 10.8:1. with 2nd gen jdm b16a pistons, compression will be almost 11:1. 10.98 to be exact. hth.

yup the pistons are a bolt-on affair. bring the rods & pistons to a machine shop, where they will press out your old pistons, shave your stock rods 1mm on each side, & then install the new pistons for you.

if your block is getting tired, you can also bore & hone it. then you will need .025 overbore pistons. as for new compression ratio, check this guide:

Cool thanks . You answered all of my questions. The pistons are relatively inexpensive compared to the jrsc I had planned. Thanks again!

*If* I were to build a B18 non-VTEC, here's what I would do:

B20, re-use the B18 top end (are you paying extra for the '96 top?) since you are having the head ported & are going w/ aftermarket cams
Headwork: Portflow
Endyn pistons
Crower 403/Crower valvetrain
Send the throttle body to RCE to have it bored out (yes, they still offer this service) - while you're at it, send them your injectors to be balanced/blueprinted
3" Slatertake (use a D-51 battery to get it to fit)
Apex'i SAFC, adjustable FPR (I like the Vortech units), dyno-time

thanks for all the replies fellas..

Frostwhite92, i am gonna use by B18 block to keep costs down...I'm only payin 120 bucks for the complete 96 top end. The headwork will be done very cheap through a friend. I was checkin out some of crower's offerings today and i'm deciding if i will go with their products or JG's. if i go JG it will be hooked up very cheap, but i want to try to find someone who has experience with crower products first...All i really want is make my car just a bit faster but not spend too much cash, since i'm savin up for another car..If i can lay down at least 150 to the wheels, i will be happy with that!

Keep the opinions rollin...

I hope you put some kind of muffler on that exhaust. Full straight pipe sounds so rice! Kinda hard to have a clean looking old-school teg, when it sounds like a weed-eater on steroids. And I agree that pistons will help a lot in your quest for 150whp. You may also want to do some ecu tuning, and add a S-AFC in there also. With all this extra airflow going on, you will definitely need to have a way to tune your fuelmap.
I'd like to see a pic of your car. I love G2 Integras! My 93 is about to hit the streets, and I can't wait.

Oh yes, it will have a muffler on it! hehe...I meant no cat. I'm gonna run an old school HKS muffler (the one with the two small dual tips) on it. As far as the fuel map tuning, i'm probably gonne go either the AFC route or Hondata...Oh yeah, i'll post a pic of it on friday...Imagestation is down today...

I've got CTR pistons on LS rods (roughly 14k mi.) just sitting in my garage! You'll obviously just need to get new bearings, but mo machining is necessary. I need $$ bad right now! Mke me an offer if you're interested!

get some crower 404s, crower valve springs, and retainers along with some itr or b16 pistons and you will be set...my car with itr pistons, shotpeened ls rods, cone air filter and custom exhaust put down 132 hp and 130 at the wheels, i figure i am gong ot get a dc 4-2-1 header, and the crower top end valve train and valves and i should be close to 155 whp or so

If you're raising compression and doing head work, I'd suggest crower 404 cams, with the springs and retainers. I've heard of a few people that use them on the street and have had no problems, and it'll give you maybe 5 more hp over the 403's for the same price.

PS tell us how it goes, I still haven't decided what I'm going to do under the hood.
