Weird idle/throttle problem on '93 SI
I am having a problem with the idle/throttle speed on a '93 prelude SI with a 2.3 liter 5 speed. I know there have been many threads regarding idle issues with Gen 4 preludes but my problem has some unique symptoms. Idle is perfectly normal when the car is standing still, cold or warm. Once the car gets moving over about 5 mph it will idle between 2,400 and 3,000 RPM if you put it in neutral or press in the clutch. As long as the car remains rolling it will stay at this very high RPM. In 5th gear it will just about drive itself at 40mph. It remains at this high RPM (in neutral or with clutch depressed) until the car comes to a COMPLETE stop for about 2 or 3 seconds. Then the idle will return to normal, about 900 RPM, and will rev up and down with the throttle normally. I have replaced the FITV. the IACV and the TPS. I don't know what sensor is activated when the car is moving but it will only do it then. I assume something is getting a signal from the ABS wheel sensors but why is it trying to control the RPM when the car is moving? Any help would be greatly appreciated. PLEASE!
Where are the 2 screws? Near the intake or by the firewall? I don't think this is it since I can be coasting so smoothly to a stop with the idle just racing for 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds or more. Then when i stop completely it returns to normal within about 2 seconds without ever touching the gas pedal. I will try it though. Thanks!
