EK and EG?

EK and EG?
I use to have a 89 civic DX and i was pretty knowledgeable on those gen of civics but now that i got my 99 EX i dont know crap about this gen, ive been reading post and people keep saying EK or EG, what do these mean? Thanks for any info.
