Default 60shot dry nitrous + gsr = oh ****

I used my 60 shot of nitrous on my gsr today and as soon as i hit vtec i heard this loud pop from under the hood and saw smoke. I was worried for a sec but the car was still running fine. I drove back down the street to my house and popped the hood to see this.

This is the first time this has happened and i have been spraying for about a year now. I forgot the term used for it but its basically combustion that comes back through the IM and and makes your intake explode. The cars still runs fine and the filter was a ebay special so its all good. Anyways it made for a good laugh.

Ive seen a vid on Streetfire.net where a CRX does the same thing on a dyno. Must have been scary as hell.

well not that i know much about NOS but, doesnt a "fogger" feed the nos through the intake tube? gets sucked up by the IM and exploded in the combustion chamber? if that's so, theres a few things that i can compile in my mind.

-when you switched over to the bigger cam lobe/follower arm, your valve floated for ONE compression stroke, igniting the gasses and letting out a little "puff" into the IM, but being as the IM was full of highly-volitile Nitrous Oxide (N20) it ignited everything up to the fogger, which is enough of an explosion to go all the way down the intake tube.

-you let go of the gas for some reason, the butterfly in the throttlebody closed and the remaining nos ignited due to ambiant heat radiating from your motor

just guessing based on common sence

-SRH

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine in his b16'ed CRX. It even made a flame. It was nuts.

i saw a video of a mustang backfire and ignite a fuel puddle in the intake tube.....blew the damn plastic intake manifold in two. they said that backfires are fairly common, so any fuel puddling will ignite and blow your **** up. never seen anything like that on a dry nitrous system.
