Drainging coolant question!!!! IS THIS POSSIBLE???
ok a friend of mine has told me that it is ok to drain the coolant out of a car while its still hot. i told him that i dont think that it would be good for the car. what do u think???
IS IT OK TO DRAIN HOT COOLANT OUT OF A CAR WITHOUT HURTING THE MOTOR. (im talking like driving the car for an hr shutting it down waiting 10-15 min the draining to coolant)

Wow, thats a horrible idea.
First off its EXTREMELY UNSAFE. You can burn yourself horribly enough to be taken to the ER with hot coolant. Plus its under pressure, the radiator.
JUST BE PATIENT AND WAIT FOR IT TO COOL DOWN.

I dont see how it would affect anything but maybe im wrong. HA the only reason u shouldnt do it is becuause obviously you can burn the crap out of yourslef.

its perfectly ok. i do it all the time at the dealership. i mean it sucks for the techs working on the car coz its hot. u just gotta be real careful when u open the radiator cap. and as for the engine, nothing bad is gonna happen to it.

Yup, but at the dealer, you probably have a machine like i have at a quick lube place. So you wont be draining the block, and then adding cold water, which may or may not crack the block. I dont know because i have rinsed down toyotas before doing an oil change when they are hot as hell and ive never cracked a block yet.
Its better to be safe than sorry. Just wait 25-35 min and it will be fine to work on w/o getting burned

i would do the coolant when cold. i would do the oil when hot. the coolant is thin, also your flushing it most likely not just draining it like oil.
so its going to get everything out regardless.
do it when cold.
