Help on whining noise
Hello!
I've a 1992 Accord EXi with a F22A2 engine and 286,000km (roughly 170,000mi) and recently it developed this really irritating whine from around the power steering fluid reservoir. When driving normally there's no noise, but when I stop at a light or drive REALLY slow it picks up quite badly at times. Any ideas what the problem may be?
BTW, is excessive vibration when in reverse or with brakes applied in D4, due to a worn rear engine mount?
I'd be grateful for any help!

Things that make you go Huh? (on the engine left side)
Power steering pump will whine (rpm sensitive)
Power Steering Pump will whine (low fluid - pumping air)
Alternator will whistle (heavy electrical load)
Alternator will whine (Tri-diode failure)
Alternator will growl (Bearing failure)
Drive belts make a "scrintch' sound
Best thing I'd suggest doing first is pull the easiest of the two accessories drive belts off and see if the noise continues. If it stops, suspect the component that belt drove.

Thank you! Appreciate it!
As it happens, I did have a Power Steering Fluid leak which caused the pump to whine when making slow hard turns - solved that first adding fluid, then sealing up the leaks.
So the fingers then point at the alternator... I'll try taking the belts off to verify.
Thanks again!
