Default Clutch Problems

I have a 99 Ex with 111,xxx miles on it and i think it still has the original clutch. Last week i drove over a puddle and water shot up into my intake and into my engine and the car sputtered and died. I was able to get it running again and i changed the filter and only made it a short ram intake instead of a CAI. Two or three days later i realized that my clutch was lagging in 2nd and 3rd gear. Now i dont know if i need a new clutch or if the water that got into the engine has messed it up. If anybody has had this problem and knows how to fix it, please let me know.

And i dont drive over puddles anymore too.

Also is it possible to run a performance clutch kit with an OEM flywheel or would it be worth it to buy the perfromance flywheel too?

Thanx

It may be entirely coincidental. Driving through water will have only a temporary effect on the clutch; and it would act just like if you got your brakes wet. In fact, it would have had to be one HUGE puddle (pretty deep too) to get water into the bell housing; it's not all that open.
When you say:

LAGGING, is it hard to shift into gear, slips when engaged or something else?

the clutch doesn't catch went i press it to about half throttle. Last night my maintenance required light came on and i don't know if it is because of the clutch or something else. When i press the gas past half throttle, the rpms just raise but the car doesnt go anywhere.

Your Clutch is slipping and will require replacement to return it to service. There are no adjustments to be made for this condition short of yanking the thing out and installing a New Clutch Assembly.
These are available almost anywhere, and normally include the:
Clutch Pressure Plate
Clutch Disc
Clutch Throw-out Bearing
Remember to stick with a reputable brand (stay away from Duralast (Deathzone Auto Parts).
Once in there, take a few moments to look behind the flywheel. If you see any indications of an oil leak, now is the time to address it. Replace the Rear Main Oil Seal before buttoning everything back up.
If you have a shop do this work, they should charge no more than an additional Hour and the price of the seal (since the tranny's already out of the way.

So now that i need a new clutch and flywheel, this brings me to my next question. What kind should I get? I want something better than OEM but I dont want one that is for the track. This car is still my daily driver, so i want something that will last and won't be hard to drive but will also have a performance edge to it. Anything would help. Thanx.
