Default ITR vs CRVtec In my DA

Well Im thinking of doing one of the two swaps in my DA. JDM ITR or CRVtec. Help me out on this one. Some people say Type R is faster others say CRVtec. What kind of numbers do you CRVtec people pull???

It matters how built the crvtec is. and what head you are going to use.

People don't recommend running a stock CRV bottom end with a VTEC head due to the piston speeds it'll see and the thin cylinder walls it has.

If you're not going to do it right, and by that I mean reinforced bottom end and correct LS/B20-VTEC install, do an ITR motor. Or just be happy with what you have

search b20 vtec. alot of people use stock b20 blocks for NA, but would recommend sleeving for turbo. You're gonna get a ton of opinions, but ultimately, it's how much money are you willing to spend?

If you're cheap about building it, get the type-r.
more then likely you'll end up with more problems not building the crvtec,
then it being cheaper in the long run.

IMO, leaving a B20 bottom stock and doing a head swap yields decent power and torque but without more compression you are limited to how much power will be made with supplimentary mods. Also the clearances on a B20 aren't nearly as close as a Type R's are so it won't safely rev as high or last as long being run at higher engine speeds.

Money is not to big a problem. I want somthing that can handle some abuse. Im leaning tward the type R. My buddy is doing a CRVtec in his DA. Just want to make sure I beat all my freinds!! LoL

I supose if you add up the money beefing up B20 theyre about the same.

o god no.
2 different beasts completely in and out
i would personally spend the cash on a b20vtec jsut get head studs rod bolts and the golden eagle kit and enjoy ...
if going b20 vtec i would suggest a block guard.. i am against these things but when reving high (8k) ur gunna want the extra support being that all other B series have 9 mm sleeves and the b20 has 6mm sleeves
i runa boosted b20 and have yet to run into any problems.
its daily driven and occasionally abused

that and stock b20 pistons yield low compression numbers which is dog w/vtec head. either go b20z pistons to get a 10.1 compression or go aftermarket for 11+ compression.

b20b pistons will leave you in the low 9cr and that sucks.

I think I will just build an LSVtec/w Turbo and call it good. I can get one for dirt anyway. I waste to much brain power thinking of engine combos.

CRVtec!!! so much better, don't worry about the thin side walls, my b20z2 holds up just fine with a gsr head (w/itr internals) and good fuel management under 8-10psi t3/t4

i was happy with this set up NA, and with turbo i break traction over 6k with 205 wide tires....

b20 is also better for torque

Definetely just go for the LS/Vtec, it'll be more reliable then the CRVtec b/c the Ls is a stronger motor, and safer for the conversion.

I would recommend getting some forged internals, a block girdle, arp head studs, and resurface the head and block for safety reasons before you turbo it, and make sure it is all well tuned.

I have a 12.7:1 compression LS/Vtec that will kill type Rs

Sock ITR b18c/w trans VS CRVtec/w stock b16 head and ls trans

witch one is the faster of the bunch. Does any one have dyno numbers for the CRVtec????

Well the issue with that is the tranny. The LS has the longest gearing, the ITR has the shortest, so that isn't going to help.

I don't know enough about the two motors to tell you honestly, just about the trannies. I have a b20b w/ a jdm ys1 tranny and it feels fast. It's really not though, at least not until my turbo kit is on. I've never experienced the b20z or b18c5, so I can't speak on either. Sorry.

crvtec will yield you better torque figures. id say just get an itr head for the b20 and then your golden
