OBD 1 Motor into OBD 2 Car...
Hi,
I'm getting ready to put an OBD 1 motor into my OBD 2 '97 CX. I know other people have done this but, I'm wondering about the wiring. I plan on running it with a chipped p28 & jumper harness. I thought that I needed to use my original OBD 2 harness & just splice some of the OBD 1 plugs(injectors, distributor) onto it so that everything would match.
I was just looking under my hood & noticed that the two harnesses are very different. Do I need to find an OBD 2 Si or EX harness? How does it work?
If anyone has done this or, knows of anyone that has, please let me know.
Thanks,
JAY.

Jay,
The easiest route would be to get a '96-'98 Civic EX engine harness and lace it on to the OBD1 swap. You will still need to change the injector, distributor, alternator, and IAT plugs. But, all the VTEC and knock sensor wiring is already there. Then all you need to do is buy one of my OBD2 to OBD1 ECU conversion harnesses along with one of my chipped P28s
If you need any help with the wiring or need to purchase the harness or ECU please email me.
Good luck.

kenji you missed one thing the CKP sensor on the oil pump you will need to change the oil pump ( not hard) and use the timing bet cover form the OBD2 motor
You statement would be correct...if you use an USDM OBD2 ECU. In my earlier post I suggested the use of one of my OBD2 to OBD1 ECU conversion harnesses.
If the person chose to use my OBD2 to OBD1 ECU conversion harness along with one of my P28s there would be no need to hook up the CKF due to the fact that the P28 does not look for a CKF sensor.
Hypothetically speaking if the person were to use an USDM OBD2 ECU in addition to using the OBD2 oil pump w/CKF they would also have to hook up the secondary O2 sensor.
