Default Question about Iridium shields

I'm looking to pick-up another helmet. Currently I have an iridium silver shield, which gives a sunglasses-like view (darker viewing through the shield).

I'm looking to get either gold, or red iridium shield with my next helmet, so my question is, would it look gold or red through the shield itself? That would give me a headache...like those hippie glasses with yellow/red lens, if you know what I'm talking about.

I don't think it would be gold or red, but just like your iridium silver shield. In other words, just like looking out of sunglasses. I have a blue one myself.

The iridium is nice, but dark tint matches everything.

On a side note, have any of with iridium, specifically Arai, shields have any issues with the iridium coating "running?"

I heard a rumor that Arai outsourced the production of their shields, and the coating would run and drip if wet. Supposedly Arai caught on, and this hasn't happened since.

Thanks guys.

I dont know about the Arai shields, but I haven't had any problems with my HJC shields. Well, my clear shield NEVER fogs up, no matter what, but my silver one does. Even after a coat of RainX. Not as bad as before, but still fogs up.

I have had my shield for 3 years now, and there has been now "running". I do have two spots where the blue seemed to rub off a bit. However, I think that is my own fault, I negleted to clean the shield after a long ride. Many bugs suicided into my shield, I guess their blood and guts stained a spot on my shield. It's not in my direct line or vision though.

I use either my fog shield (made by fog city) or a breath guard (foggy respro). It's done wonders for my cold-weather commuting.

I was thinking about getting one of those foggy respro things. Saw it on helmet harbor, I dunno if I want to shell out $23 for it though. Does it work pretty good?

The weird thing about it is the way it "holds" onto your nose. It's a small clip that squeezes the bridge of your nose. If your bike vibrates a lot like ours do, then the respro will ticklet your nose a bit.

It kinda pokes your forehead too when you lift the helmet off.

It's not too bad, though. It makes a great seal against your face.
