CIVIC OWNERS WHO NOW OWN RSX'S!!!! (insight please) regrets??
I know this seems like a stupid pointless thread but I want some feedback from people who have owned and loved their (hybrid) civics & now drive RSX's
I am a proud civic owner, have been most of my life....I'm thinking of purchasing the RSX Type S....but I can't seem to mentally make the plunge and leave my love for swapped civics behind....
I've driven the 05 type S and totally respect it.....I have a ball driving it....I love the refined feel and the thought of not having to worry about the car (civic) all the time.....
But I am looking for stories from previous civic owner who now own the Type S....
stories of Satisfaction, regret, dissapointment....whatever.....
please chime in with your experiances......
I had an 88 CRX Si with a b16 swap. The CRX was great, but it does not compare to the feeling of my new type-s. Everything is smooth in the new car. I dont have any regrets at all, not to mention the peace of mind you get with a new car. If you can afford to do it, then do it. Also I am getting older and wanted to get something a lot more refined and luxurious but still have that "SPORTY" feel, which is what the type-s is IMO.

The piece of mind is what I'm lookin for........I can afford to do it, it's just a matter of figuring out whether I want to do it....
& yeah I'm getting old (26) as well, I guess that has a lot to do with putting my civic infatuation behind me.......
I also have a crx which I will keep, to play with, regardless of whether or not I pick up the type S......
thanks for the reply

As you get older you will appreciate the power and refinement the RSX has to offer. Swapped hatches are fun when you are early 20's, but it gets tiring after a while.

You are so correct. I had my DA with a b16 swap, now I have an ep3 that I want to supercharge (I am now 32) and I can see myself wanting the new TSX coupe in a few years. Hopefully I can make the ep3 a race car then!

My bro had a 91 swapped hatch and went to an 02 rsx and he absolutely loves it no regrets. His hatch wasnt as fast, no way as reliable, no ac/ps and the rsx gets repect from other people then just honda guys.

Drove my brothers 99 Civic LX for like 1.5 years, when I drove the RSX-S, it was gg. It was a whole different platform, the gearbox was short, the reponse was insane [ compared to the civic ] and everything was just better.
Props to the type s

I just went from a fairly un-modified 1989 CRX Si to a 2006 RSX Type-S. I haven't driven it but 150 miles so far, but no regrets here.
It has a working heater, a working a/c, it's much quieter and better insulated from the heat and cold, everything works like it should and it's much smoother in every aspect of it's operation than the CRX.
The downside? Car payments ($300) and insurance (increase of $300/6 mos over the CRX).

Do it. The RSX-S is a great car. I had mine for a total of 6 months before it was stolen. It was the best daily driver and weekend boy racer I have ever had.

$300 a month for a new car isnt that bad. If I didnt get full coverage for my 1995 Saturn SL2, my payments would went ot $298
The insurance thing I can see. Dont Acura's have that "luxury tax" thing?

No luxury tax in my case...I think that may only apply to really expensive cars.
The only other downside I thought of was having to use premium instead of regular (which I could put in the CRX) and getting slightly worse gas mileage.

Thanks for replies......obviously going from a stock civic to an RSX, I'm sure you would never regret it....I'm more so wondering about people who are going from fast hybrid hatches to the....kinda slow RSX....(sorry)
and regarding the post about high octane fuel....I only pump >93+ sometimes 94+ & every once in a while little 100
so switiching to premium is not a concern

S2K was the most unreliable car i've ever driven. Clutch is weak, tires last a day, axle took a **** 1300 dollar for that, and the tranny was fubar when I traded it.
Considering Honda paid off my s2k to get the rsx I was extremely happy. I was getting rather tired of the constant repairs, rattles, and odd noises.
If mine wasn't a complete piece of **** I would still be driving it. I absolutely loved that car from day one.

It all depends on what you want out of it. If you just want a reliable daily driver (d/d) that everything works in it and still is sporty, then do it. If you are going to modify the RSX-S, then that defeats the purpose since most likely you'll lose the warranty behind it once the mods start. On that case, I'd suggest you keep your play car and have your d/d as well. I had a 00 Civic Si turbocharged, I traded that in for an 02 RSX-S since the Civic was giving me minor problems and it was my d/d. Right of the back I noticed that the Civic had more back seat room. If you're a family person then you need to care about inside space. The RSX-S was not practical for me, so after a little while I traded that in as well. Now I have an 05 SUV for my d/d and my play car is a 99 Civic EX-T. Good luck with your decision.
Hmmm...i think I can answer this perfectly. I had a 97 EK with a B16. I loved her. I put my blood sweat and tears into her. Did the swap myself and basically everything else on the car. Eventually, though, I got tired. I had graduated college and was working full-time at a respectable engineering firm. I got tired of driving in a shirt and tie without AC. Got tired of worrying that if smething broke, I was the only who could fix it. In November 02, I bought my 03 DC5 and I haven't looked back. the Dc5 is a great car...much higher fit and finish than the Dc2 and certainly my civic and to be honest, it isn't that slow....granted, i'm comparing it to my B16 EK and not an H22 EK, but with the right mods, it can really respond. I've never driven a car befor where a CAI made so much difference. It was amazing. Yes...I do miss my civic sometimes...but then i look at my DC5 and feel a little better.

I sold my S2000 a few months ago and Im about to buy a Type S! I love the S2000, it is hands down the best handling car Ive ever driven but I just need something I can drive all year around during these New England winters. I also didnt want a car note anymore so Im going to buy the type S cash!!!!! Hopefully...
tranny tranny tranny. my d16y8 shifted better then the rsx type s, but i guess nothing is perfect. Just bitter over 2nd gear grind on my new 06 type s, oh well

thats the ONLY thing i noticed that i'm not completely happy with....i went from a gutted, nitrous-fed 91 teggy to the RSX-S and my only dislike is the tranny. i have a slight 3rd gear grind at high rpm's and the older cable tranny on my b18a just felt like it took a beating better. i dunno, its hard to explain, i just feel like i have to be delicate with rsx tranny or its gonna explode into pieces on me haha
on a side note, when slamming thru the gears on the rsx, the tranny DOES engage so much cleaner and quicker than the older b-series trannies, even the hydro ones
you wont regret the switch

**RIP**...i do miss her tho

kinda OT, but whoever was talking abotu the TSX coupe, arnt they just rumors?
i had a boosted 93 prelude and i am 99% happy with the dc5-S. the 1% im not happy about was that my lude was boosted and made more power than my dc5, but i <3 my warranty.7 year power train and 5 year bumper to bumper > boosted + torque. i also love my 6th gear and the dc5 is a hell of a lot more comfortable and it's eye-candy to me.
