Default ugly jacked up axle boot, jumping & inaccurate speedo, and weird rubbing noise

ok, i think if i change both axles in the car i will eliminate these problems. does anyone else have a jumping speedo problem with their EG? like when i'm going from 20-40mph it looks like the thing intermittently hops from 20-25, 25-35. like it doesn't go up smoothly.

there's still a weird rubbing noise and a friend pointed out to me that my axles look beat like none other, would a poor condition cv boot or axle make a grinding/rubbing noise? also, what does the cv boots and axles do for the car? (excuse the noobness)

the speedo being messed up is probably a bad vehicle speed sensor, or loose connection. if your boots are tore up i ts time to change them

ttt bump bump

anyone? the speedo thing only happens during gassing btw, when i am just rolling it doesn't go crazy or hop, even if it is accel. down a hill (i tried to make sure) i really think its this axle lookin' thing. my main axles with cv boots i checked today are perfect, its the thing behind it (steering rack?) that looks messed up. would that make any noise? looks like a cv boot just thinner and longer. hope that description helps. and if i have to change it anyone know a ballpark of what i'm lookin' at spending?

i dunno, maybe i should just take this thing to a Honda mechanic. it's a '92 DX with a '97 DX (D16Y8) engine in it, using the old manifold off of a '92. franken-d-series!

so, anyone?

Make life easy for yourself and bring it to a mechanic. BTW the long skinny boots are your inner tie rod boots.

yeah i'm gonna go to a Honda mech.. anywho, as for my weird chattering/grinding/rubbing noise, would a bad tie rod make that noise? i'm trying to pinpoint that stupid annoying noise when i'm in gear it drives me nuts!

its either that or the trans bearings (inline shaft, throwout, flywheel). but i noticed the ugly boot first. thanks for the help though!

and looks like no one knows if speedo is mech or electronic in a '92 hatch :-(
