What year, model, and version car do you have?

How do you plan to use these tires? Daily driver? Track or autocross use?

Do you plan to use them on snow in the winter?

i have a 1990 civic hatch, The wheels arent stock they are aftermarket, and the offset is pretty high so i can run some meaty tires on them and they wont rub (hopefully)...

Anyhow i am looking for a highperformance/track tire, it will never see snow or winter for that matter but needs to be decent enough to roll on in the summer...

Thanks for your help

There aren't a lot of 14" performance tires on the market.

The best 14" size for your car is 185/60-14.

The Yokohama AVS ES100 comes in 185/60-14, for $67/tire at the Tire Rack. It has very good dry traction, excellent wet traction, and reasonably long treadlife.

The Falken Azenis RT-615 is going to be available starting this summer in 185/60-14. It offers outstanding dry traction, mediocre wet traction, and extremely short treadlife. (Right now the only available 14" size is 195/60-14, which is too big for your car.)

There are really the ONLY decent summer tires available in your size.

why is the 195/60/14 too big? too wide for a 6" wheel?

I heard that there are some toyos available that are pretty decent, but i couldnt find anything on the web about them

No, it's too big for your car, with outer diameter 2.5 percent larger than stock. It will throw off your speedometer and odometer, and it might rub (particularly with the Azenis, which are notorious for being larger than other tires with the same nominal size).

The Toyo T1-R doesn't come in the 185/60-14 size that you need. But you can get them in 195/55-14, which should work for your Civic. onlinetires.com has them.

BTW, not only are there a lot more 15" performance tires on the market in your size (195/50-15); they're also a lot cheaper than the 14" performance tires.

Yea i know all about the azenis being wider than listed, i had a problem with that already.

I saw that the toyo t1r is offered in a 195-45-14, do you see any reason why that wouldnty work for my application. I believe alot of euro guys run those tires...

As for 15's being cheaper and more abundant. I am quite aware but i got a good deal on these 14's, they are rare and extremely light. Also i have had a couple of sets of 15's i wanted to try something new

Also thanks for your help it has been quite informative

It's WAY too small for your car. It's almost 8 percent (almost two full inches) smaller in diameter than your stock size (175/70-13). Unless you're building a "low rider", forget it. That's just the wrong size, by far. Maybe those Euro guys are using them for their extra-tiny cars (e.g. Smart car); otherwise, they're using the wrong size tires.

You can use Toyo T1-R in 195/55-14, which is only 0.9 percent smaller than stock. Or the Yokohama ES100 in 185/60-14, which is 0.4 percent larger than stock.
