burning smell??
When revving passes 4k rpm I could smell a burned tire smell and yet felt like clutch was slipping. Im guessing it could be a worn out clutch that causing the problem. Any suggestions? thanks
Actually, it's a smell more akin to overheated brakes (and you've accomplished the same effect with your clutch). The smell you're getting is the death knell for your clutch disc. It overheated from slippage and has glazed.
The binder which makes up part of the friction material has overheated, the binder rose to the superheated surface and glazed over; making a hard surface.

You are probably at the point where your clutch was close to requiring replacement anyway. As a point of reference, a clutch in good operation will live at 4-5000rpm all day long; as long as it's locked up.
If the clutch has been damaged, you should start to feel it slipping more and more as you shift thru the gears.
To be fair, I should also suggest looking that you don't have any 'oil leak on hot manifolds' issues as well. It won't contribute to the slipping you felt, but it could add to the odor problem.
It will ultimately require replacement. I don't anticipate a catastrophic failure right away, so you may have some time to get the funds lined up.
