Default 91 DA speedo problem after cluster removal

so my bro takes the cluster out of his 91 DA to lube up the speedo cable/head, upon reassembly the speedo shoots up to 2 or 3 times the actual speed

anyone hear of this? whats causing it? thanks,

the cable may have popped out of the cluster, or out of the speed sensor. if the cable is connected properly, then the speed sensor gear might be screwed

the speed sensor wasnt touched and teh cable is in the cluster tightly, when he did was put oil in the top of the speedo cable, held it up so it all ran down the entire lenght, put grease on the cable head and reattached everything and now it reads all whacky.

make sure the clip is holding the cable in the speed sensor, the cable might have been pulled out when the cluster was pulled. that is about all i can think of other than replacing the cable.

i can only imagine the cable not being clipped onto the cluster properly... unless you damaged the cable in some way.... DA speedo cables suck as usual.

Check the speed sensor side of the cable. It must of jump out like the other member said.

Speed sensor is on top of tranny under intake manifold, not hard to get to..

Never heard of lubing the cable, could this lube cause it to spin too much? (sorry if thats a noob question)
