Default Catalytic Converter HELP!!!!!

I have a 93 si hatch shell and i got a 2000 honda civic dx motor from a friend so i decided to put that in for now, but i was told I need a catalytic converter... I called around but they said the catalytic converter should be in the manifold on a 2000 motor... Does any1 know anything about this?

you need a cat for an EX/SI for your chassis. the 2000 motor you got has the cat before the downpipe, th ex/si has it after the downpipe before the midpipe. unless you have the stock exhaust off your chassis including manifold downpipe and cat it wont reach the rest of the exhaust. i just went through this last weekend on a buddies car.
