a buddy of mine has got a 99 si, his check engine light came on and he brought it to autozone, and they told him that it was his o2 sensor... so he need an inspection so the person inspecting it shut his check engine light and gave him a sticker... the light stayed off for almost a week, and now its back on... he bought an universal boshe one, and I was wondering how hard it is going to be to change it, and what wire to use and what wires not to use.

if he checked it @ autozone, did they let him know which o2 sensor was bad? primary or secodary? youll have to know that first... i threw a code also for my secondary o2 and it was my cat that was bad (clogged). check that before you go and change the to the universal

 

I wanna say it was secondary... how do I check and see if it is the cat?

 

Bosh universal o2 sensor sold at autozone are both the same.
primary and secondary are the same sensors

 

I think I remember this one. I had that problem when I ran 110 octane in mine. Did the code say something like "Bank1 Sensor1"? If so, that's the first one. If "sensor2", that's the 2nd one. I would recommend Honda OEM, though

 

i tried to use the uni's on my car and it kept on throwing a light as soon as it ran for 10 seconds, and i tried 3 diff sensors, now i have the oem style from advance auto and not a prob yet, and the code will tell you whether its primary or secondary, if its the secondary just do a o2 simulator, but primary you'd have to replace
