Default Is running a blockguard with aftermarket sleeves logical?

Well i'm interested in an engine someone is selling and it has the following items.

Z6 Block
Clevite coated bearings
Eagle H beam rods (block notched) ARP rod bolts
Micropolished Crank
CP 9:1 pistons 75mm bore
Darton sleeves
Arp Head studs
Block guard from Race Engineering
Block professionally assembled w/ all receipts
New OEM water Pump
New OEM Oil Pump
New OEM bottom end gasket set

As you can see it has Darton sleeves and a Block Guard is there any negative affects due to doing this?

block guard is useless in that setup. if he really does have sleeves, there should be no necessity for the bg. i would try to remove it if you were to buy it, but they are a b***h to remove.

Yeah that doesn't make much sense. I wouldn't trust anybody that installed a block guard on a sleeved motor. He doesn't sound very smart. I'm guessing he is lying or he just can't speak english, so he copy and pasted a bunch of parts and put that in by mistake lol...

Well, this is his reply when i asked him why he had both.

My z6 block has darton sleeves. It's an open deck design, you have the choice of an open deck or closed deck with sleeving. Closed deck is for drag cars, and usually have cooling issues when utilized as street car. I opted to go with an open deck because it allows for big power, and streetability. I added the block guard with the cooling passages cut out to protect the top of the sleeves (which is the part of the purpose for closed deck) while simultaneously being able to having great cooling capacities.

Make's sense, but why when aftermarket sleeves are proven to hold 600whp++

That still doesn't make sense lol. People make 600+whp on stock B-series sleeves and have made 450+whp on stock D-series sleeves. With aftermarket darton sleeves you can pretty much run as much power as you want without having to worry about the sleeves. If he thinks the block guard helps in anyway he isn't that smart.

I know it makes little sense when sleeves are proven to hold more than enough power, but would it cost any reliability issues?
