What to do with the old, shitty engine...
I'll be pulling out my old, shitty, d15b1 and installing an SOHC ZC this weekend. I was just thinking about what I should do with the engine. It's running on 3 cylinders, and has a bad dizzy.
Perhaps I should just take it all apart for the hell of it strictly for the learning experience. That way I could learn w/out ******* something expensive up!

If it still has decent compression, then someone could probably use the longblock and I would give it away to someone for free, or for a bottle of soda or something.
If it's trashed then take it apart and sell what you can off of it. That's the route I had to take.

take it apart give parts away or sell it
heck if you are willing to put a bit of money in it rebuild it off cheepie or used stuff im sure you could get it running happy for under 100 bucks and have learned a ton.

Thats exactley what i did with an F22 engine, i dont know how different from a D15 is it, but i know its still SOHC. but enough of that, do it! and if the parts are junk just recycle it slowly each week, thats what i did. its not like they wont take a alummium block.

I already got one. picked it up same week as i got my car. I think i'll try to do something totally unnecesary but a good learning tool. I'm gonna dissasemble and reassemble it. WHY? because I can. plus, if i ever have to do a tear down on my ZC i'll have a better idea of what the hell i'm doing.

I'd tear her apart, and get her back to good running condition eventually over a long period of time, for the learning experience. Then maybe hang on to it as a backup or something, just wrap her up and put her off to the side in your garage.

take it apart...it is a great learning experience.
strip it down to the bare block and head...remove every single bolt/sensor(even a good idea to save them).
When you're down to just the aluminum head and block, take them to an Aluminum recycling place...look one up in the yellow pages.
I got $26 for my worthless old head/block. You could get more or less depending on the going rate of Al.
Its not much, but its free beer money...and you're doing this for the experience, not the money.

Lol, I may do that!
It'll go:
Step 1: take off this doo-mahicky
Step 2: the wutchamacall-it bolt needs to be removed
Step 3: Um..... pull that shiny bit off.
etc.
haha, i got a chilton's so i'll have some help.
